The Green Code
The GreenCode
A moot about the environment should spare it. Three rules, a scoreboard, and an award for the team that treads most lightly.
A paperless moot · Rule 45
Nothing on paper in an Oral Round: no notes, scripts or guides. Bare Acts, books, the chits supplied for passing notes and the printed Compendium are exempt. Memorials are filed, exchanged and read on screen.
A plastic-free moot · Rule 46
No plastic bottle or container at the in-person rounds. Water is provided; bring a tumbler. The Organising Committee keeps plastic out of the venue and the catering too.
Green Points, for the four semi-finalists
Count your points
Tick what your team would do in Chennai, and watch the sapling. Green Points decide one award only: they never touch a mark, a ballot or a result.

The Iyarkai Kaappor Award
Iyarkai kaappor: those who protect nature.
₹5,000 with medals and a Certificate of Commendation
It goes to the semi-finalist with the most Green Points. A tie is settled by a vote of the Organising Committee, and the instances that decided it are read out at the Valedictory (Rule 47).
At the edge of many Tamil villages stands a kovil kaadu, a sacred grove where no branch is cut. The award asks for the same restraint, for one day in Chennai.
